Emergency Core Cooling System Hydroaccumulators
The hydraulic accumulators of the emergency core cooling system (ECCS) are part of the reactor plant. For one power unit, four ECCS hydroaccumulators are supplied: one accumulator per each coolant loop.
AEM-Technologies manufactures ECCS accumulators for nuclear power plants loacted in Russia and abroad, including Belarusian NPP, Kursk-2 NPP, Akkuyu NPP, and Rooppur NPP.
General characteristics
The ECCS hydroaccumulator is a thick-walled vessel made of perlite steel with anti-corrosion overlay welding of the inner surface. Anti-corrosion overlay welding of the inner surface is carried out on an automatic overlay welding unit. The accumulator is filled with a boric acid water solution. In case of emergency pressure drop in the primary circuit below a certain level, the boric acid solution is automatically supplied to the reactor to stop the nuclear reaction and cooldown the reactor core.
